Package: network-manager Version: 0.9.8.10-2 Severity: normal At some point recently I became unable to change the network-manager configuration as a normal user. For instance, when trying to switch to a wireless network via nm-applet I get the following error message in a pop-up window:
Connection failure Connection activation failed (32) Not authorized to control networking. I suspect that this lack of authorization is somehow related to the fact that I don't use a display manager. I state my X session by entering: exec startx in a virtual console. I have no other problems with this setup that I know of, other than this network-manager authorization issue. I currently resort to using nmcli as root to configure my network. My user is in the "netdev" group, as required by policy-kit. Here is the contents of my NetworkManager pkla: servo:~ 0# cat /etc/polkit-1/localauthority/50-local.d/org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.pkla [nm-applet] Identity=unix-group:netdev Action=org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.* ResultAny=yes ResultInactive=no ResultActive=yes servo:~ 0# Could the problem be related to "ResultInactive=no"? Does something think my current login session in "inactive"? What would that be? Please let me know if there's more information I can provide.
