python-soapy (and SOAP in general for that matter) is quite a beast. Although it sounds a bit stupid, but if we don't find a suitable alternative, it might indeed be easier to convert the BTS' API to something more digestible. It would be preferable if the BTS would serve JSON instead of SOAP-XML. JSON could be parsed within Python w/o any external library.
Don Armstrong might accept patches for that kind of change, but writing that part requires some serious Perl skills.
