The phrases "a ABI compatible upgrade" and "consider to reboot" are ungrammatical, and the shouty claim that I need to reboot the machine "MANUALLY!" is false. If I've got kexec-tools installed, loading a new kernel doesn't require a reboot. And it certainly isn't necessary for me to apply my finger to the hardware power button "manually"! All you mean is that needrestart won't offer to restart the kernel for me.
thanks for your patch, I'm going to apply it upstream.
Since some of the text I need to fix seems to come from various Perl scripts that also have various other typos and language errors in their print statements, I've ended up with rather an intrusive patch. It also makes me wonder how you were planning to internationalise any of this text...
I'm not planning any i18n, yet. Some i18n could be easily achieved using debconf (adding some more templates). Debconf uses it's own i18n mechanism and needrestart must not require debconf to be available. Hence any of the strings is maintained at two different locations which makes i18n worse.
