it should be possible to use "ben query" not only on Packages files

Actually, after having checked the source code, "ben query" distinguish
between Packages files and Sources files. Admittedly, its heuristics is
based on the name of the package and the regexp could be extended but
at
least it is there.
If I understood your request correctly, you report contain two feature
wishes:
1) the first one is already there
2) the second one is ability to read from a local directory containing
all files.
Right?
