Package: fam
Version: 2.7.0-8
Severity: wishlist
Hello,
fam preinst include a call to start-stop-daemon:
# forcibly stop all still running instances of famd because
# some old versions of this package missed a stop in their prerm
# on upgrade
/sbin/start-stop-daemon --exec /usr/sbin/famd \
--stop --oknodo --quiet \
--retry 5
Now that sarge is released, I think you can sefely remove it.
I am not sure this is a bug, but packages are supposed to use
invoke-rc.d instead of start-stop-daemon in maintainer scripts
and this usage of start-stop-daemon cause piuparts to log a failure
when testing fam upgrade (and hence gnome upgrade) so it would be
nice if this call were removed soon.
Thanks in advance,
