Hi, it would be nice if pkg-config could be updated to a newer version. Version 0.27 introduced new autoconf macros (PKG_INSTALLDIR and PKG_NOARCH_INSTALLDIR) and there are projects that use them[1].
With pkg-config 0.26 from Debian unstable, I just get an error:
configure.ac:28: error: possibly undefined macro: PKG_INSTALLDIR
