Package: vsftpd
Version: 3.0.2-12
Severity: important

vsftpd in unstable does not support PAM logins. While this has been
fixed in experimental for many months, the fix has for some reason not
been made to unstable.

Meanwhile, the experimental package has an utterly broken init script:

root@wren:/etc>ps -ax |grep sbin/vsftpd
root@wren:/etc>service vsftpd start
[....] Starting FTP server: vsftpd[....] vsftpd failed - probably invalid
config.[war (warning).
root@wren:/etc>ps -ax |grep sbin/vsftpd
30426 ? S 0:00 /usr/sbin/vsftpd
root@wren:/etc>service vsftpd start
[....] Starting FTP server: vsftpd/usr/sbin/vsftpd already running.

The only working combination seems to be using the package from experimental
with inetd, or possibly with systemd.
