Package: vsftpd Version: 3.0.2-12 Severity: important vsftpd in unstable does not support PAM logins. While this has been fixed in experimental for many months, the fix has for some reason not been made to unstable.
Meanwhile, the experimental package has an utterly broken init script: root@wren:/etc>ps -ax |grep sbin/vsftpd root@wren:/etc>service vsftpd start [....] Starting FTP server: vsftpd[....] vsftpd failed - probably invalid config.[war (warning). root@wren:/etc>ps -ax |grep sbin/vsftpd 30426 ? S 0:00 /usr/sbin/vsftpd root@wren:/etc>service vsftpd start [....] Starting FTP server: vsftpd/usr/sbin/vsftpd already running. The only working combination seems to be using the package from experimental with inetd, or possibly with systemd. -- System Information: Debian Release: jessie/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.11-2-amd64 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_US.utf8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages vsftpd depends on: ii adduser 3.113+nmu3 ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.52 ii init-system-helpers 1.14 ii libc6 2.17-97 ii libcap2 1:2.22-1.2 ii libpam-modules 1.1.8-1 ii libpam0g 1.1.8-1 ii libssl1.0.0 1.0.1f-1 ii libwrap0 7.6.q-25 ii netbase 5.2 Versions of packages vsftpd recommends: ii logrotate 3.8.7-1 ii ssl-cert 1.0.33 vsftpd suggests no packages. -- Configuration Files: /etc/vsftpd.conf changed [not included] -- debconf information excluded -- see shy jo -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [email protected] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
