But we will leave that on one side for the moment. > direct parallel:/dev/lp0 "HP LaserJet 1100" "HP LaserJet 1100 LPT #1" > "MFG:Hewlett-Packard;MDL:HP LaserJet 1100;DES:HP LaserJet 1100 > Printer;CMD:MLC,PCL,PJL;CLS:PRINTER;REV:1.1;IO PREFS:ECP18;" "" So you have a LaserJet 1100 connected to the server (the host) using a parallel connection. First you need to bring your installation up-to-date; cups is now at version 1.7.1-2. Then *on the server* 1. Delete (or move) /var/log/cups/error_log. 2. Enable debug logging with cupsctl --debug-logging 3. Restart cups with service cups restart 4. Print a file *from the server* with lp -d queue_name file_name or lp file_name (if the 1100 is the default printer) 5. Say whether printing takes place and attach the error_log to the mail you send to this bug. > Versions of packages cups recommends: > pn avahi-daemon <none> avahi-daemon is not required for what you have been asked to do above. However, in general, I would question the benefit of not having it installed. Regards, Brian. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
