Excellent. I'd be interested in results from the following
experiment.
apt-get build-dep git; # as root
git clone https://kernel.googlesource.com/pub/scm/git/git
cd git
echo NO_OPENSSL=YesPlease >config.mak
make -j8
PATH=$(pwd)/bin-wrappers:$PATH
... reproduce the bug
cd path/to/git
git revert --no-edit v1.8.4.2~10^2~1
make -j8
... see if the bug reproduces again
