fail2ban 0.8.6-3wheezy2 replace "date -u" by "LC_TIME=C date-u" in sendmail.conf, sendmail-whois.conf and sendmail-whois-lines.conf solve the problem in my setup as well.
Will wheezy receive a update for this bug?
