Without even using safe-mode, I'm not seeing the issue anymore. I rebooted and changed the switch I was using on the computer, but I can hardly see how could a network problem cause the aforementioned behavior (other computers -arch, freebsd- on the same switch have no issues at all with ssl). > i'm not sure what to suggest next here.
