Respect to this old bug: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=202955 Vim doesn't read nor texrc nor compiler.vim if present in a local configuration directory as ~/.vim/ftplugin/tex (or ~/.vim/ftplugin/latex-suite, it's the same). I have to copy both files with my own settings in system directories (/usr/share/vim/addons/ftplugin/latex-suite and /var/lib/vim/addons/ftplugin/latex-suite) to have it working. So this bug is relative not only to texrc file, but to all user configuration files
