Hello Rohan
xmllint really is an improvement, some SGML errors were recently found because it was introduced. I'd rather keep it if possible. You are mistaken, Debian buildd's do not have access to the internet. I just ran strace on xmllint and checked all is done locally. Here is some digging: $ grep "http://www.oasis-open.org/docbook/xml/" /etc/xml/catalog <delegateSystem systemIdStartString="http://www.oasis-open.org/docbook/xml/" catalog="file:///etc/xml/docbook-xml.xml"/> $ grep http://www.oasis-open.org/docbook/xml/4.1.2/docbookx.dtd /etc/xml/docbook-xml.xml <delegateSystem systemIdStartString="http://www.oasis-open.org/docbook/xml/4.1.2/docbookx.dtd" catalog="file:///usr/share/xml/docbook/schema/dtd/4.1.2/catalog.xml"/> (...) These files are part of docbook-xml package. mdbtools should build-depends on docbook-xml. It does not. There is a problem there, you are right. But I'm not conviced about the need to add back rarian-compat. Could you check adding build-dep:docbook-xml is enough, in your derivative, please? Othewise, I plan to release a 0.7.1-2 with just that change, maybe you'll just want to wait and check that's ok. Thank you for your report ! :) On Wednesday 27 November 2013 17:30:45 Rohan Garg wrote: > Note that not depending on rarian-compat causes FTBFS's in Ubuntu [1] since > the builders are better firewalled off from the internet than the Debian ones. > > Could you please re-introduce the dep along with docbook-xml ? > > Cheers > Rohan Garg > > [1] https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mdbtools/0.7.1-1
