I would like to use boinc-manager without there being a need to install boinc-client.
It doesn't take too much of a stretch of the imagination to see that some users might want to control clients on other machines without the need to install the client on the machine they are using. It is a waste of space and requires additional steps to disable the client. This becomes a particular concern on small devices such as low-end mobile phones.
It kind of defeats the point of having a boinc-manager package if it needs to pull boinc-client anyway. The two are usually updated together upstream.
