Hmmm!!! You made me check my environment variables. And yes, I had
deliberately, for convenience, includes all *sbin/ into my path. I'll
fix it.

This is the problem. From what I've looked so far, there's no neutral
way of doing it.
I wish there was an xdg-su command which would have called the
appropriate helper tool. If you have ideas, please share.

BTW, I did add a notification to the user about the root privilege. It
was committed to the branch but will be part of next release.
Perhaps it is time for the new release.
