Package: autofs Version: 5.0.7-3 When autofs with autofs-ldap is configured to bind to a LDAP server by its domain name, a la LDAP_URI="ldap://host.name";, it fails to bind on boot and remains in a state of failure.
In my case, the LDAP_URI is "uhf.nebula". The logs show as follows: Oct 28 16:59:23 lht automount[2022]: lookup(ldap): Unable to bind to the LDAP server: ldap://uhf.nebula, error Can't contact LDAP server Oct 28 16:59:23 lht automount[2022]: lookup(ldap): couldn't connect to server ldap://uhf.nebula Oct 28 16:59:23 lht automount[2022]: do_reconnect: lookup(ldap): failed to find available server This can be remedied by adding $named to /etc/init.d/autofs's Required-Start and Required-Stop dependency lists.
