As i said there, python-pip (Debian package) is totally useless as it is: the only reasson i'd like to have an extra (Python-)package installer is because I'd like to be able to install Python "packages" from the official Python package repository (mainly) _AS A USER_, because they are NOT vailable as a Debian package. So i do NOT want to run pip as root, as it would fundamentally mess up my DPKG setup (it tries to remove/overwrite system files: e.g. OSError: [Errno 13] Permission denied: '/usr/bin/easy_install' ) So BOTH "--user" and a working "--ignore-installed" options (BTW, both undocumented in the man page!!) should be the default in Debian. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
