Package: vcdimager
Version: 0.7.20-2
Severity: important

When I attempt to use vcdxbuild or vcdxgen, I get the following error message:

$ vcdxgen -t svcd  current.svcd.mpg
**ERROR: charset conversion failed

If I specify a character set, the problem stops:

$ vcdxgen -t svcd --filename-encoding=UTF8 current.svcd.mpg
(Super) VideoCD xml description created successfully as `videocd.xml'

If I try to run vcdxbuild on the XML file, I get the same error again, which I
can work around with the same fix.

I realize that it's not very sensible that vcdimager suddenly developed a
problem, and I'm guessing that another library -- perhaps the libxml2 library,
which I've just updated -- may actually contain the problem. It smells to me
like a localization error as the filename is read from the command line or the
XML file is read/written, but I have no way to check.
