Package: vcdimager Version: 0.7.20-2 Severity: important Tags: l10n When I attempt to use vcdxbuild or vcdxgen, I get the following error message:
$ vcdxgen -t svcd current.svcd.mpg **ERROR: charset conversion failed If I specify a character set, the problem stops: $ vcdxgen -t svcd --filename-encoding=UTF8 current.svcd.mpg (Super) VideoCD xml description created successfully as `videocd.xml' If I try to run vcdxbuild on the XML file, I get the same error again, which I can work around with the same fix. I realize that it's not very sensible that vcdimager suddenly developed a problem, and I'm guessing that another library -- perhaps the libxml2 library, which I've just updated -- may actually contain the problem. It smells to me like a localization error as the filename is read from the command line or the XML file is read/written, but I have no way to check. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (990, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.9-2-k7 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Versions of packages vcdimager depends on: ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-20 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libcdio0 0.68-2 library to read and control CD-ROM ii libiso9660-0 0.68-2 library to work with ISO9660 files ii libpopt0 1.7-5 lib for parsing cmdline parameters ii libvcdinfo0 0.7.20-2 library to extract information fro ii libxml2 2.6.16-2 GNOME XML library ii zlib1g 1:1.2.2-4 compression library - runtime -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
