I saw the problem with both libppm0.12-dev (1:1.0-7) and libppl-dev (1:1.1~pre8-1) ; indeed that include file (ppl.hh) defines numeric limits classes which are already in gmpxx.h... I'm not sure if the #ifndef __GMP_PLUSPLUS__ ... #endif enclosing is the right fix, but at least it makes the problem go away here.
