Hello,
I've hit the same bug as the one described in the following thread :

I was testing a single director setup, with two backends. When I
simulate the failure of one backend, I couldn't redirect the failed or
the new connections to the working backend.
The following messages appeared in the logs :
dovecot: director: Warning: Delaying new user requests until ring is synced
dovecot: director: Error: director: User [email protected] host lookup
failed: Timeout - queued for 30 secs (Ring not synced for 34 secs)
...
The patch proposed by Timo fixed the problem for me :
