I just accidentally reproduced this while installing Jessie with a preseed that did not include lvm2 - shouldn't it be part of the base install if LVM is chosen in guided partitioning?
Debian GNU/Linux testing "Jessie" - Official Snapshot amd64 NETINST Binary-1 20130729-21:37 (20130729) was used as a base.
