I believe v1.16 fixed this bug.
vrms --explain works fine here :
$ vrms --explain

firmware-linux-nonfree Binary firmware for various drivers
in the Linux kerne
Contrib packages installed on carcasse
flashplugin-nonfree Adobe Flash Player - browser plugin

1 contrib packages, 0.1% of 1592 installed packages.
This bug should be closed :)
