Potentially. As I understand it, current Intel desktop and mobile processors may not be able to run all cores at full speed continuously with a standard cooler. The embedded controller can quickly adjust the CPU frequency and voltage to keep it from overheating, but it still depends on a properly functioning cooler. If it does overheat then this can certainly result in data corruption. Are you overclocking the processor?
