SMBC now uses PNG rather than GIF. As far as I can tell, it uses PNG
all the time. If this proves not to be the case (I read it every day),
I’ll happily supply a new version of this definition that uses
“search” rather than “generate”.

Of course, this updated version will not work for old dates, but I’m
guessing that’s not really a problem.
