Debian reported that I had updates available. They were the libraries I'd
downgraded.

I updated them so I could dig around and figure out what was broken. My
friend had taken a look and he did `ldd /usr/bin/gnome-shell` and noticed
that libjson.so.0 was not found. The file was there, but it wasn't found.

When I updated, there were no problems. I restarted to give my computer
every opportunity to break and it still gave me no trouble. ldd shows that
libjson is alive and kicking.

I'm at a loss to explain why installing that update once caused major
problems but installing it again worked like a charm. But there you have it.
