Thanks for the patch. But this needs a bit more touch up. Right now we have bigger problem than multi-arch for stable. FYI: I think it will be cleaner if you use proper debhelper v9 compat level. You do not need to move around library after the build. If that is not enough, another alternative is to use override the dh_auto_configure process. (Not as elegant).
