I have the same probem on Whezzy. I'm also using classic gnome and clearlooks. But the problem is not restricted to gnome-terminal. I can reproduce with Iceweasel, eye of gnome. The key is a maximized window with dark background.
repro steps for Iceweasel -search for a page with dark background -browser should be maximized -move the cursor to upper right of the screen -you will see a white border on left side Could you fix it? -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [email protected] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
