Package: scim Version: 1.4.13-5 I am suffering from the same problem in Japanese environment.
This problem occurs with conversion in xterm window, but not in gnome-terminal or in iceweasel. In previous debian (Squeeze), white letters in black background were displayed. After upgrading to Wheezy, just black box is shown. The color of the letters may be black, I guess.
