Hello, this bug tracks the packaging of rss2email 3.x (3.4 ATM).
There is a new upstream (W. Trevor King) who rewrote it in Python 3.
The new homepage is at [1]. One of the problems of packaging the new
version is an incompatible configuration system.
As I posted in the project (new) mailing list[2], my plan is the
following :
- prepare a "crude" 3.3 package (done ~80%)
- upload it to experimental (meaning that updates for users are
opt-in)
- wait a few weeks for feedback, during which:
- write a migration script from 2.x to 3.x data (so that there is as
little manual rewriting needed as possible). I'll of course
forward it there.
- upload to unstable so that updates are pushed everywhere. That
would include the same packaging + eventual fixes + eventually a
new version + the migration script.
- after that, upload new versions directly to unstable, as usual.
