I can reproduce this with both ways to add a Google account (for the whole
desktop via GNOME Online Accounts, or in Empathy).
I think it's probably caused by Google adding support for the <URL> vCard
field, which telepathy-gabble doesn't think is supported or exists.
This is fixed in the upstream 3.8 branch, backport in progress...
