OGRE 1.7 is forced to depend on boost 1.49 for a reason, changelog
ogre (1.7.4+dfsg1-6):
* Force Build-Depends and Depends of libogre-dev on version 1.49 (this
particular one since it is the default for Wheezy). OGRE exposes internal
source code from boost which is sometimes incompatible between versions and
might produce deadlocks with applications using/linking incompatible
versions of boost. The problem is probably not fixed completely, but this
is an attempt to mitigate it (see the bug report for the discussion).

OGRE 1.8 will probably be removed from the archives before jessie is
released (they are about to release 1.9 now, and 1.8 will be
discontinued/unsupported shortly thereafter), and I will remove 1.7 as
soon as possible after wheezy is released (it's already unsupported).
Basically: yes, I will take care of this bug report, with its very
sensible request, once the freeze is over.
