efibootmgr doesn't currently support disks with logical sector sizes greater than 512 bytes, which I've seen e.g. here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1065281 There's a Fedora patch for this which has not yet been applied upstream, but it looks broadly sensible to me. I suggest applying it to the Debian package as well.
