Tank you for reporting this bug. I didn't notice it because it
works/worked fine without acpid on my Asus W1Gc and does also
on my brother's HP notebook. The upstream author did not tell
anything about needing it (AFAIK).

I don't have any toshiba notebook, so I asked somebody to test
it. Will Thompson (resiak) tested it on his toshiba A50
(thank you). But he told me that it works:

Thermal zone 1 : ok, 70 C

Because I think that acpid is generally a good idea to use
(and it doesn't work on your laptop"), acpid is going to be
recommended in the next version of the package (acpitool-0.2.8,
which was already packaged but not uploaded by sponsor)
