I have not tried to reproduce this yet, but this looks like upstream BZ 552178 which was fixed in yum 3.2.26. Can you please test this patch to see if it fixes your error case: http://yum.baseurl.org/gitweb?p=yum.git;a=commitdiff;h=0111d892922ba35c51287b273ed954afdc97e7e4 So it looks like yum is incompatible with rpm in wheezy to some extent, at least in error handling, possibly in other ways.
