I am able to reproduce the problem you are describing; whether or not it occurs depends on the version of the kernel. I’m not convinced that ticgit’s way of determining the size of the terminal (tentatively calling ioctls) makes a lot of sense, so I’m probably going to make it parse the output of stty instead.
