I agree that it more direct and accurate to point users at
/usr/share/doc/*/copyright. This said, having a link to our definition of Free
software would be useful to users who are not familar with Debian.
How about:
The programs included with the Debian GNU/Linux system are free software
as defined in <http://www.debian.org/social_contract#guidelines>; the
exact
distribution terms for each program are described in the individual files
in /usr/share/doc/*/copyright.
Debian GNU/Linux comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY, to the extent
permitted by applicable law.
I am filing this as a bug in the BTS to track the issue, with severity 'normal'
because my gut feeling is that it is indeed confusing to display the DFSG as
EULA, while the DFSG does not ask the user to agree to anything. Thanks to
James for the initial clarification by the way.
