In case folks would like to collaborate, I have pushed a new branch "vuze4.8" to the git repository (see the PTS page [1] for URLs). The package is is building and running, but still needs some work. Specifically, Adrian's debian/update-disable patch needs some attention before it will apply against the new upstream version. Once that patch applies, the package can be uploaded to experimental.
