The stanzas built utilize GRUB 2's loopback mount support to boot a Finnix kernel and initrd, and passes the location of the ISO to Finnix. Finnix's first-stage initrd then searches for the partition containing the specified ISO. . Note that there are certain restrictions regarding where the ISO may be placed. Please see README.Debian for installation instructions and restrictions. I talked about this briefly with Paul Wise, and while there are several existing packages which do similar GRUB loaders for other projects (grub-rescue-pc, grml-rescueboot), they are incredibly specialized to the target project. It may be possible to abstract this sort of function into a shared package, but IMHO the shared code between them would be very small, and discrete packages for each targeted project would be better for maintenance.
