Package: strace
Version: 4.5.20-2.3
Severity: normal

Dear maintainer,
The tranformation from an ioctl number to its canonical name (e.g.
0x80045430 -> TIOCGPTN) is done using only the 16 lower bits under
linux.
This may lead to interpreting wrong constants as a valid name.

The bug #190887 is an example of misleading "rightly wrong"
interpretation of a wrong constant.
The ioctl 0x80005430 fails because it's not a valid ioctl number, but
strace still display TIOCGPTN while it shouldn't.

Best regards,
Celelibi
