Jonathan, Thanks for the reaction. At that moment (April 2012) I was using the testing distribution. I was developing a kvm client server system with usbip. But since spice is available I stopped trying to use usbip and therefore I don't have any recent experience with usbip.
The freeze of the original bug-report is not longer occurring so I think you can close this bug.
