Upstream gave a valid reason to do that:
It was mostly just to be careful about things like who could view/edit important variables like PCAP_FILTER, PCAP_INTF, and ENABLE_SPA_PACKET_AGING. (If someone set the later one to "N" then fwknopd would become vulnerable to a MITM attack.)
Thus, the permission on the configuration file fwknopd.conf should be updated.
