Package: gnome-terminal Version: 3.4.1.1-1+build1 Severity: wishlist Dear Maintainer,
I strongly wish for an ability to set a default character encoding without dealing with the LANG environment variable. Preferably, I wish that a default encoding can be set for each profile. If that's difficult for some reason, I wish for an "--encoding" command-line option. All solutions I found on the Internet involved setting LANG, but that affects other aspects than character encoding. What I need is an ability to change *only* the character encoding of the terminal. In the menu, we already have "Terminal" > "Set Character Encoding". I want THAT ability.
