Does the patch indeed work for you? What versions of network-manager are
you using?
Please note the NMPANSupport plugin does only work with NM 0.8. The
exception seems to be a result of trying to use it with NM 0.9 (or any
other incompatible or even no version). The patch does avoid this exact
exception, but does not fix the issue if I'm correct.
You can use NAP without Network Manager by using the DhcpClient plugin
instead of any of the NM plugins. I'll raise its priority, since wheezy
will ship with unsupported NM 0.9.
