Adding this line to the config file:

deb-amd64 http://mirror.example.local:3142/debian squeeze main

Produced this error message:

such file
apt-mirror: can't open index in proceed_index_gz at /usr/bin/apt-mirror line

apt-mirror created a directory called 'mirror.example.local:3142' withing the
skel directory, yet it tried to access 'mirror.example.local'.
A '$ ln -s mirror.example.local:3142 mirror.example.local' within the skel
