Package: sgt-puzzles Version: 9411-1 Severity: minor File: /usr/games/untangle
when playing untangle with high numbers of nodes (>100), it would be
useful to be able to move nodes en block. the behavior could be as
follows:
* at any given time, nodes can be *selected*. a selected node is
displayed in green, and nodes directly connected to any selected node
show up in red (as usual with connected nodes), unless they are
selected themselves. changing the selection is part of the undo
history.
* dragging a selected node with the left mouse button (lmb) moves all
the selected nodes in parallel, and drops the selection afterwards.
especially, a non-dragging click with the lmb clears the selection, as
does dragging a non-selected node. (this is to make the game behavior
fall back to the simple interface there was before, even if a user
accidentally uses selections.)
* when the right mouse button (rmb) is pressed outside a node, a
rectangle gets drawn on screen, and the nodes inside the rectangle get
added to the selection. rmb click on any node adds the node to the
selection, rmb dragging adds the node to the selection and starts
dragging (like a lmb drag on an already selected ndoe).
(to be consistent with other games like pattern or map, the "alt" modifyer
key can be depressed to the same effect.)
* the middle mouse button (mmb) acts like the inverse of the right mouse
button: nodes inside the rectangle get removed from the selection, as
get nodes that are clicked on. (the "shift" is equivalent to that.)
in tabular form (s = selection, n = node, rem = remove):
/----- selected node ------\ /----- unselected node ----\ /----------
outside -------\
| mouse down / drag / up | | mouse down / drag / up | | mouse down /
drag / up |
/------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
| lmb | - / move s / drop s | drop s / move n / - | drop s / - / -
|
| rmb | - / move s / - | add n to s / move s / - | - / add rect
to s / - |
| mmb | rem n from s / move n / - | - / move n / - | - / rem rect
from s / - |
\------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------/
please consider adding this functionality, as it would save players from
tedious and error-prone node-by-node moving of larger subgraphs.
