Weirdly enough, 1:12-6+point-1+exp1 (from experimental) has completely fixed the problem. The terminals are drawn in low resolution as fglrx has always done before, are functional and the computer turns off just fine. I have reinstalled 1:12-6+point-1 to check if the problem presented itself and it does. So 1:12-6+point-1 is definitely broken here, 1:12-6+point-1+exp1 runs just fine.
