Hi, I just experienced this on a fresh wheezy installation (gdm3 3.4.1-2) in a real system - I can trigger this by disconnecting the display and restarting gdm3. Reconnecting, stop gdm3, pkill Xorg, start gdm3 fixes this. I'm not sure which logfile might be interesting, as there are thousands ... Unfortunately I'm using the nvidia driver, and it's too late now to switch back to nouveau - perhaps next week.
