extension:
$ file /usr/share/locale/de/LC_MESSAGES/txt2tags.mo

Compare this with e.g.:
$ file /usr/share/locale/de/LC_MESSAGES/dpkg.mo
/usr/share/locale/de/LC_MESSAGES/dpkg.mo: GNU message catalog (little endian),
revision 0.0, 1067 messages
