I had managed to work around the problem by changing the kernel
configuration. Since that was rather wild-guessing I don't know
exactly which. It might have been CONFIG_X86_UP_APIC but it should be
possible to reproduce the error, will check.

I will give that a try when time permits, this might take a few days.
