At Steve Langasek's suggestion a different strategy is being implemented. The imlib source package now provides a compatibility library for gdk-imlib1. Also, gdk-imlib11-dev Provides: gdk-imlib1-dev. It is therefore important that no uploads be made of imlib+png2 lest they collide badly with the versioning.
